Avoid Burning Out: Rediscover Your Energy and Purpose

Have you ever felt like you’re pouring from an empty cup, constantly striving yet increasingly drained? I understand. As a military veteran and coach for women over 50, I’ve seen too many of us abandon our own well-being in pursuit of purpose. But here’s the truth: we can’t serve others well if we’ve ignored what God designed us for, including rest and renewal.

Instead of pushing through exhaustion, let’s refresh our souls and align our rhythms with His:

  • Nourish your temple. What you eat fuels more than your body, it feeds your spirit and daily purpose. Choose whole foods that support energy and clarity.

  • Rest as worship. God modeled rest, and not just for convenience. Prioritize sleep and Sabbath in your routine; resist the lie that a strict schedule means spiritual dedication.

  • Move with intention. Whether a walk, yoga, or strength training, regular movement honors God’s gift of health. Start small and build consistency.

  • Shield your inner circle. Your family and closest allies aren’t just support, they’re encouragement carriers. Make time for them and receive reminders of “you’re enough.”

  • Play, laugh, breathe. Spiritual refreshment isn’t only in devotions. God also speaks through beauty and stillness, sunsets, good coffee with a friend, or creative hobbies.

When we steward our health, relationships, and inner joy, we ignite sustainable purpose. You weren’t made for burnout, you were made to breathe, believe, and become.
